Can’t make it to my IoT courses at Stanford? Take the online certificate program! or contact me to bring this course virtually to your team.

During this course, you’ll learn the key blind spots companies face across the IoT development and customer lifecycle. We’ll specifically focus on blind spots that occur in the areas of:

  • Strategy
  • Implementation
  • Operations

This course is the perfect complement to my IoT Product Management Certificate Program.

Course Description

One of the most common causes of failure for IoT (Internet of Things) products is not having strong product managers who understand the complexity of bringing IoT products to market—product managers who can guide organizations through design, development, go-to-market planning, and services implementation.

IoT products require product managers to navigate and coordinate many more internal and external groups than non-IoT products.

IoT products have more technology layers, including device hardware, device software, networking, cloud platforms, and cloud applications, as well as additional operational complexities such as field installation, remote monitoring, and complex partner ecosystems.

In this course, you will learn how to most effectively work with executives, designers, data scientists, engineering, sales, business development, customer success, and services to bring your product strategy to market.

Students with related backgrounds such as engineering, design, marketing, or business will also find this course extremely useful.

FAQs

Who is this course for?

This course is for Product Managers and Product Leaders tasked with building an IoT solution at their company.

Leaders from other departments will also benefit from this course since the goal is to create a shared understanding of what it takes to bring an IoT product to market, and that includes all departments within your company.

How is this course different fro

m your other courses?

Both my IoT Product Manager Certificate Program (online) and the course “Product Management for the Internet of Things” (BUS-145 at Stanford) focus on developing an IoT Product Strategy.

A solid strategy is a key element for success, but it’s not the only one. Many companies have a solid strategy, but they are no able to implement it internally. That’s what this new course is all about.

In this course, I’ll focus on creating alignment within your organization to make sure you can drive forward the full lifecycle of your product.

In short, my previous courses are about strategy and they are “outward” focus. This course is “inward” focused to help you get the work done within your organization.

Will I get access to your IoT Product Managers community on Slack?

Yes. Every professional who attends any of my courses (online and in-person), as well as my corporate clients, receive an invitation to join my exclusive Slack community for IoT professionals.

This is an added bonus of taking the course since you’ll be able to connect with hundreds of IoT professionals from around the world who are going through the same challenges you are.

I am an aspiring PM, is this course for me?

If you are interested in a career in IoT Product Management, this course can really help you. Although I won’t cover any PM fundamentals, this course will give you a taste of what it means to be a strategic Product Manager and will give you a perspective into the interpersonal abilities every PM needs in order to drive Products forward.

Are your previous courses a pre-requisite for this course?

No. All my courses are designed to be complementary to each other. You’ll get the most knowledge if you take all the courses, but it’s not necessary. Each course stands on its own and will give you all the necessary knowledge and tools you need.

Will this course be available online?

For now, this course is not available online. There are two ways to learn this material:

  • Join me at Stanford
  • Or bring this course as an on-site workshop for yourorganization

Please contact me if you are interested in bringing this course to your company. I look forward to working with you and your team.
